I started “Invisibles,” in 2011 while volunteering with what is now “Dignidad Migrant Society”, a group that has worked for years to improve the lives and working conditions of migrant labourers in Canada.

As I visited the farms in the Lower Mainland where thousands of temporary migrant farm workers come to work every year, I learned of the challenges they face. Far away from family and coping with language barriers and isolation, workers are left susceptible to poor and unfair treatment.

These photographs depict the everyday life of the men after work and the rituals they perform in the little free time they have. 

I am grateful to all the men for allowing me the opportunity to photograph them and I wish them all the very best in their lives.

La serie Invisibles, inició en 2011 cuando comenzó mi participación como voluntaria en la hoy llamada “Sociedad por la Dignidad Migrante”; un grupo que ha trabajado desde hace años en mejorar las condiciones de vida de los trabajadores migrantes en los campos agrícolas de Canadá.

Al visitar las granjas en las Tierras Bajas (Lower Mainland) donde miles de trabajadores temporales vienen cada año a laborar en los invernaderos, me di cuenta de los desafíos que ellos enfrentan; lejos de la familia con barreras de lenguaje y aislados, en lugares remotos, se encuentran susceptibles a un trato injusto.

Estos retratos, relatan la vida diaria de estos hombres en los pequeños espacios con los que cuentan para realizar su rutina fuera del trabajo.
